Chaton was born with cerebral palsy. He was found underneath someone's balcony in the middle of winter. He was suffering from hypothermia. When I got him home, the tips of his ears and the tip of his tail fell into my hand. He is the bravest little cat I have ever known. Chaton is now 14 years-old and I expect that he will live many more years.

Teja is a Hanovarian / Thoroughbred gelding. He was retired at the refuge after developing a navicular problem in both front hooves. He could no longer be ridden and his owner chose to retire him. Teja is a gentle giant who has welcomed many new horses since his arrival. He always makes a special appearance when they are backing out of the trailer to invite them to their new home.

Big Jim affectionately known as Cricket was sold at the age of 32 after years of barrel racing, to a therapeutic riding school. His now U-shaped back could no longer allow him to do his job. He was transported to Teja's in the middle of a blizzard one November day, three years ago. He is the most gentle horse I have ever known. Cricket and little Clyde have become great buddies, grazing and enjoying life at Teja's.

Camille, Egyptian Arabian mare. In the dictionary under perfection, should be her picture, as this little mare had no faults. She went over Rainbow Bridge 4 years ago. Camille is sadly missed and will never be forgotten.

Otis came to Teja's when he was only 6 weeks-old with big Bosco. They lived happily side by side for 11 years. At the end of February, Otis became ill. After several visits from the vet, and many attempts to cure Otis from what was ailing him, he lost the will to fight. It was in March 2004 that Dr. Nicky Schaeffer helped our Otis go peacefully over Rainbow Bridge. Bosco and I were devastated at the loss of this great giant. There is not a day, that I do not think of him. Rest in peace my boy.

Winston is the friendliest rooster I have ever known. He is gentle with all his feathered friends and is on the welcoming committee at Teja's. When a car pulls up, he comes with the hens to say hello..

Cadeau on the left and Mirage on the right, the year they arrived. Cadeau will soon be 33 years old, and Mirage will be 21. Cadeau is a16.3 hand Thoroughbred mare. Mirage is a 16.2 hand Thoroughbred gelding. Both are Dark Bay in colour.

Boa was found wandering on the property of the Miaouf animal shelter. He was approximately 4 years old. He remained at the shelter for the next 7 years. One day while I was volunteering at the shelter, Boa jumped into my car as I was leaving. He became dog #11 and remained with us for the next 5 wonderful years. Boa was close to 16 years of age when I sadly had to help him go over the Bridge.

Cezanne, 16-year-old, Foxhound mix was left in a cardboard box on a very cold Christmas Eve at the age of 6 weeks with 7 of his litter mates in the driveway of an animal shelter. I took 2 of the puppies for foster care, but as with Bear, was unable to let them go for adoption when the time came. I called them Cezanne and Voltaire. Cezanne developed a brain tumour in his last year and we helped him go over Rainbow Bridge in the same week as our Bear. This being one of the saddest and hardest week to get through emotionally. Cezanne will be sadly missed but never forgotten.

Bear,16-year-old Chow mixed dog. He was thrown out of a car window when he was only 3 weeks old, they slowed down, rolled down the window and threw him out. He rolled into a ditch along side the highway. A lady saw this happen and thought that a child had thrown out a teddy bear. She pulled over to retrieve the teddy bear and found a puppy trying to come up the ditch. He was soaking wet, and shivering since this happened at the end of October. The lady took him to the local animal shelter. I received a call soon after asking if I could foster this puppy who needy alot of care.. He was so small that he fit in my hand. He grew and grew to become a 130lbs Bear. We sadly had to help our Bear go over Rainbow Bridge on November 6, 2004. Bear is sadly missed but will never be forgotten.

Woden is a 13-year-old German Shepherd and he is also our mascot. He has always been a very gentle and sweet dog. Though he is deaf, he is very alert and is well aware of all that is going on. He is a wonderful dog, and we love him very much. |
|
Minnie was a Pomeranian mix. I rescued her from an animal shelter where their method of extermination was to put them in a decombustion chamber. She lived to be 18 years old. Minnie is sadly missed but never forgotten.
|
Clyde was a gentleman of cats. He was a loner and never troubled the other cats. He was 12 year-old when he suffered a stroke. I rushed him to the vets and we helped him go over Rainbow Bridge in January 2005. Clyde sleeps peacefully with angels now. He will always be missed and never forgotten.

Patch, 18 year-old, Husky mix. Patch was found wondering around the grounds of an animal shelter. He was 6 or 7-years-old and massively covered in mange. He remained there for 7 years, never knowing the love of a family. When I took him, we went straight to the vets where treatment was started for his skin condition. Patch was a very sad and bitter dog most of his life. Who could blame him? I spent the next five years trying to make it up to him and enjoyed every moment. Patch has since gone over Rainbow Bridge but he will never be forgotten.
